Woke up and went upstairs this morning (technically yesterday morning in my time zone now), to see a huge box waiting for me for my birthday, well I had enough time to open it, and look it over before we had to head to my grandparents for dinner. So after HOURS of waiting to get back to the beauty I finally got to get back to my new LTD V-401DX in See-Through Black. It's a "Set-Thru" neck/body. I'm not entirely sure of the meaning of this, I assume some sort of combination of a set neck, and neck through. 25.5" scale. Mahogany body, with a flamed maple top, and a maple neck, rosewood fretboard. The heel on it feels pretty great, has good fret access, the frets are all smooth and feel great. The Floyd Rose Special is amazing, it was STILL perfectly in tune, and set up from when my Mom received it and put it in her closet 6 months ago. The tuners are a little meh, but it doesn't really bother me since it has a Floyd, and the 81's it's loaded with have quite the punch to them, a lot of high end that's for sure. The action was pretty low out of the box, absolutely no fret buzz, but I prefer it to be pretty damn low, so I lowered it, and tuned to my preferred tuning of 1/4 step down, still no fret buzz, played for a few more hours, abused the shit out of the FR, and only had to SLIGHTLY adjust the tuning and it hasn't budged since. I am thoroughly impressed with this guitar, and so grateful for receiving it today. So hard to put it down. Well I guess on to the pr0n so you animals don't lose it. I'll have to try and snap some better shots tomorrow when there's some daylight.
