Greetings all. Been away from the forum for awhile. Several contract changes for my job, cancer treatments, divorce, and a kid getting ready to go to Texas Tech kinda keeps you busy.

Anyway, I noticed the ALD-3010SE Thin on Rondo's site a while back. After doing much research, I discovered there wasn't a whole lot of information available anywhere. Soooooo, I decided to take the plunge and see what this love-child of an LP Custom Lite and a PRS was all about.

First off, this thing is thin and much lighter (8.5 lbs) than my AL-2000 (10 lbs). It measures 1.5" at the edge, but is carved on both front and back, so it is right at 2" in the middle according to by calibrated eyeball. Binding is very white compared to the cream color on my AL-2000. As someone noted in the Skinny Minnie thread, the horn is a little thinner and longer than the Agile standard. Overall, the body shape is just slightly different than the AL-2000 in the lower bout. The neck is also thinner than the AL-2000. Pick-ups sound very good in all three positions. Maybe I'll consider coil-split in the future, but not anytime soon. I haven't found any blems to quibble about.

I wanted black pick-up rings, so while changing strings before doing a set-up I went ahead and changed those and the knobs.

Ok, enough talk, time for pictures. These were taken indoors since it is kinda gloomy outside today.

    Happy NGD!
Beautiful Rootbeer finish and lately I have been looking at some super thin body profiles. Didn't even know that one existed.

@DanTheGrouch Hope you are as well as you can be considering all that.

Great for you to do that, now it can be seen for real. Looks better than I thought.

Does it feel good while playing it? How about the toggle switch in that position?

Thanks for the review and pics!

Great top on that one. I kinda like the PRS style pickup switch too. I also like the black pickup rings better too. Happy NGD!

    Sabas,

I actually like the toggle switch down next to the knobs. I've caught myself reaching up a couple of times, but shouldn't take long to break that habit.

Since it's so thin, it feels more like a Strat or Tele instead of an LP. The back being carved makes it super comfortable.

Very nice, and I do like the black. A couple pics of the back would be cool if possible.

Does it sound different from a full thickness LP body in some way...generally speaking?

My untrained ear might not be the best to say whether or not there is a difference in the sound, but to me there isn't any. I tried to see if sustain was any different between this and the 2000, but the results were minimal if any.
