So I am starting to wonder if my Lake Saint Louis home is related to a mobile home (tornado magnet).

In 2015, a wind-sheer down-draft type of tornado hit my house, taking out some trees and my roof. No one was hurt and I recovered after $5K out of pocket and insurance.

Last night I awoke 3 times to the weather radio going off announcing storms. Lots of lightening, thunder and rain all night. Nodding off after the 3rd alert, I was rudely awaken by what seemed like the bedroom wall being hit by baseball bats and the house shaking violently. Grabbed the wife and dog - headed for the basement.

Emerged 10 minutes later to find my siding on my neighbors lawn and porch across the street and my wife's favorite red bud tree cut in half.

No water leaks, but total PIA and I can feel the wallet emptying once again ($1K deductible).

BTW: noting to see here - there really is no global warming - move along.

Wow, I did hear those thunderstorms last night but I think I was mostly shielded from the high winds due to my location (sort of on the side of a hill). We didn't get a single tornado warning where we're at, my the apartment's storage room is the perfect shelter. Good to here you're alright.

I don't know if I can be of any use, but if you need help fixing something, I'm game to help.

As long as your guitars are OK. You know, you and your wife too, but, you know.....

    (KIDDING!)

Seriously, as long as you and the wife and the dog are OK, that is all that matters. Siding can be repaired.

Having been through three tornado scares now, I can safely say that I don't like them one bit.

Glad you and yours are OK other than exterior damage , which money can fix. I have a very good friend living in Moore OK They are the tornado magnet of all time. The EF5 of 2013 passed within a 1/4 mile of her house and close the the school her son went to.Tornadoes are fairly common in the area so she stays prepared. There when they say tornades are likely particularly big ones everyone keeps the closest shelter in mind.

A good friend used to live in Oklahoma City, Ok.
I phoned him once when OK City got hit by a swarm of tornadoes.
When I asked if there was anything close to him,
he replied: "Nope, the worst was on the other side of the street."

That's terrible man, glad it wasn't worse though. Though I am actually in Kansas as I type this, my wife said we didn't get too much at our house last night.

Dunno about that but I bought a new fridge a couple of years ago and one of its features is an LED light.
A few months ago the LED light started acting like a turn signal, drives me nuts!

If only the sheathing had come off too, you'ld have the perfect opportunity to add hurricane-ties to the framing.

I've been out of town all week but my wife said it's been holy hell in St Louis this week. Heading home now, not sure I want to.
