I'm not a spalted fan so I can support that decision!

That's a nice looking top. I'd put a transparent or translucent finish on that guitar body. Find an ugly guitar body and paint it gold.

To paraphrase, "there's a shortage of perfect spalts in this world, it would be a pity to damage yours"

I'm a big fan of natural finishes, i'd vote to let the grain shine through.

I like that top, too. I'd stain, not paint

What does your back look like?
You could do the natural back with the goldtop. If you didn't like it you could sand it back later.

I love the Reranch Goldtop I used on my Jr. It looks like the real deal & is affordable. The shipping is where they get you of course.

Not a big fan of spalted myself, although I have that SG Jr black limba in the works. I made an exception as it was such a steal.

This was cheap as well hence the salt, Patrick. I'm torn.
Michael's sells antique gold metallic paint in a lacquer base that isn't bad. I think there is a sample in this pic.

Yea that spalted top is sick symmetrical, I'd let the beauty shine through!

I don't like tops that aren't symmetrical, good symmetry is hard to find, yours is good!

Leave that top natural. Paint something else that is ugly. Or do what pleases you. It is yours .

I can never bring myself to paint over interesting grain. That's nature's art.
