    New Used Bed Sheet Day!

I bought a guitar from a Reverb seller which arrived yesterday. After opening the box, I noticed a strong smell of fresh linens and fabric softener.

I pulled the cardboard and bubble wrap out from the top and saw that the guitar was wrapped and fully enshrouded in a light purple bedsheet and the headstock and nut were lovingly wrapped in a purple hand towel.

I also saw that the bottom of the box was cushioned by a pair of jeans and a polo shirt.

(Just kidding on the jeans and polo shirt)

To make it even more peculiar, there was an empty box of ginger snap cookies among the off kilter materials.

I’ve seen NGD threads where “different” packing materials were used, well, this is my first time getting bedding materials. I also have a guitar that smells like fabric softener now, which isn’t a bad thing.

Also...I’ll take a bed sheet any day over satanic packing peanuts...any day, no matter how I don’t want to imagine where the bed sheet has been. Although I’m happy this sheet and towel smelled clean.

Please share any other experiences involving strange packing materials. @uwmcscott, I vaguely recall you receiving a guitar wrapped in a woman’s dress once?

    The sheet:

    The hand towel:

Not as important to this thread, but here’s the new green guitar...will post an NGD for it later...

It was actually assorted clothing - a woman's blouse, some childrens t-shirts, etc. That was an AL-2000 P90 gold top that the guy assured me was a wide neck before I bought it, but it was not. He ended up being a total assclown about it so i hope your experience isn't as sheety. ( pun intended )

Lol...so far not sheety, but I have to admit I was a bit taken back by the whole thing, I definitely would’ve been weirded out by assorted clothing...

    Strange
    Poor little Greenie, ooh-ooh.
maybe he was the Jean Genie.

Dig those x series soloists, congrats.

I wonder if using the same trick in a smoke or funk smelly guitar and case would help defunkatate the situation.
the google probably knows but I dont need to at this time.

Yes, loving the Kawasaki/slime green Soloist, very nice guitar.

You’re on to something...take a bed sheet, wash it in lots of extra detergent, dry it with a couple of fabric softener sheets and tightly wrap the stinky guitar in the sheet, Fabreze the hell out of the whole thing, and it might help. The Soloist still smells like a laundromat.

My wife and kids eat all those crackers and fake bready shit. I only eat red meat, sometimes I even cook it LOL

I once got an amp, a Fender Princeton Chorus, wish I'd taken a picture of it... sent to me from Saskatoon via Greyhound bus...
just the amp, but he "lovingly" taped a small piece of cardboard over all the knobs, no harm, pretty funny.

I’ve received an amp one time packed with a couple of very used pillows as padding. I’ve had a couple of guitars shipped to me with t-shirts as a protective covering.

I once accidentally sent my sons favorite pajama shirt along with a package to Snarf. It somehow got mixed in with the packing material. Snarf was kind enough to send it back.

Packing materials are expensive and shipping is crazy expensive. If one has some worn out cloth materials why not? I used to sell adult diapers and used those (not soiled of course) to pack in. Got some stressed comments from a few. But the gear arrived unscathed.
