A total left hip replacement surgery. Today it feels like I'm starting to turn the corner a bit. Less pain and I'm more mobile. Still a long road ahead, but man it feels good to feel somewhat better. Woo Hoo!!!!

That sounds like a very involved procedure. Wishing you a quick recovery!

Does this mean you are now a bionic man? Bionic guitar player?
A good friend of mine has referred to himself as "half assed" since he had that some years ago.

Hey, spouse had that this Spring!

Watch the meds effects, she had a blood pressure hiccup.
    Compression socks/hose?

No weird leg position or angle!

Pay attention to use the walker properly, that is, walk within the footprint, not jot the thing ahead of you and catch up with it - common mistake people make using the thing.

I may have more ideas, digging from memory.

Positive healing Mojo heading your way. I have seen quite few people around me ( family and friends ) go through replacements in recent years and it continually amazes me how quickly people seem to recover from the procedure. One of my good friends is an ortho surgeon and he once told me that the tools he uses are similar to carpentry tools.

Half assed would be an uptick at this point, Mickey. LOL

Poodles, thanks man. I'm very cautious with the meds and have been following the protocol just as the doc and nurses have called for. I'm off the walker for 4 days now. Only using the cane and being very careful about how i walk, do stairs, etc. My wife has been a great help with the exercises and such. We have home P/T folks and nurses that have been amazingly helpful. They really know their stuff. So far,so good. I've got the compression sock (full length) on 23 hours a day. Also icing up a ton. The in home folks have told me that if i push myself and do extra P/T exercises I'll see good results. I appreciate your suggestions. Hope your wife is doing well.

Thanks a lot, Scott. I appreciate it. It's funny you mention the "tools" When they wheeled me into the OR, I asked them to let me see the black and decker's they were going to use on me. I'll be danged if they aren't just stainless steel covered power tools. LOL Hammer and chisels, same deal. It's pretty amazing what these Doc's can do in a few hours.

Wow, wishing you a full & fast recovery and that the replacement leaves you better than ever.

Can we now assume hip is stable? (y)

Wishing you all the best and patience to recover full soon, John!

Too bad that those jam-with-wives sessions will have to wait until hip is stable...:)

    Take care!

ive had 3. Did they use the full length rod, or the new "shorty"?

I ask because I had the shorty for #2, then my thigh broke around the rod and they had to go in replace it w/ the long AND strap the thigh bone in 3 places. NOW they want both knees, but im not sure theres room enough in that one leg to fit the long rod AND a knee
