I’ve been under “low internet profile” mode for the last days –this mode included AGF, twitter, guitar/music stuff and the likes, and I’ve only checked for some news, just enough to know if there’s anything really big happening-. The idea of this temporary low mode was to lower anxiety levels, focusing more on day-to-day things, work, spiritual enrichment of the soul, and some real music –like in taking the guitar and playing for real again-. Things are not better not even for a bit, but for my inner self I can feel the benefits gained.

So, among other things, those days have served me for finishing my original song that I posted back last december, that some of you may remember.

    (Reminder: https://www.aguitarforum.com/threads/sabasgr68´s-original-song-rough-demo-track-rock-pop.102543/ )

I wanted to finish it properly, but having no means for recording good vocals, I decided to work on the song and make it a full instrumental.

For those who like to know facts about the making of songs, read on:

    FACTS:

The original “rough demo” had some things that I didn’t like, basically the music track, that was somewhat flat/boring, and wanted to make some minor changes to lead and rhythm tracks.

So, I used a free drum software (Hydrogen) to create a drum track with more realistic sounds. Think I came to something much better. First time I tried to do this and took me some time.

Again, DAW used was Audacity, using the amp as an interface.

For the bass I used my AL3000, and recorded the bass line with a modified preset on my Fender Mustang I amp for making it sound close to a bass. Once recorded, applied some compression and EQ to the track, and lowered it one octave down. Then I adjusted low freq to make it sound fuller. Not a perfect bass, but useable for the song (feedback from a seasoned bass player here contributed to the final result).

I made some minor changes to lead and rhythm tracks (clean and overdriven), and recorded the new lead melodic line, all with the AL3000, of course. Took me a while, but got it done. Sometimes it´s hard for the hands to translate what´s in the head, and most of times –at least in my case- my head wants things that my hands just can´t do!

This final result it´s definitely much, much closer to what I want the song to be. There are still some arrangements I´d like to do, but you have to stop at one point; otherwise, it´d never be finished!

Tried to make a good mix to my ears. I have a pair of Sony headphones (MDR-V150),maybe not the best for monitoring, but they have a good sound, and I hope I came to a decent mix (I’ve been using them for 10 years). I’d suggest you hear the song through a nice player and a good pair.

Now, the second part of this thread (the music) is this:

I’m also uploading it to Bandcamp.

    FOR YOU AGFers:

For you AGFers who liked the song and would like to have it in your PC, smartphones, memory sticks or mp3 player, below you’ll find a link where you can download it for free (MP3 track). I would only ask you for a small favor, but at least this time I have something tangible of my own to give to you in return, even if it´s just an original song.

    FOR ME:

What I would like you to do with the Bandcamp link (should you like the song enough, that is) is to shout it out for me with your friends, relatives, coworkers, church group/board, Whatsapp group, Facebook friends, twitter, etc., where people can download the song for $1 -or more- for a good cause; say whatever you want to make people get interested (busking on the internet?). I’d be happy if I can make some income for something I love to do –making music and playing guitar-. It is my intention to keep on working on other songs I have.

Thanks so much for reading so far (no need for making this thread longer than needed).

Now to the important link for you (feedback welcome for future works), MP3 track for listening and/or download (sorry, soundcloud page is censored here, so I couldn´t uploaded it to my page, but this is very easy and direct) :

    https://instaud.io/3VGx

    And the Bandcamp link:

    Hope you enjoy listening! Thanks!

    Sabas.

PD: I´ll be bumping this thread from time to time so it won´t be missed :)

Wow! Good tone, good playing, good composition and good recording. Did you have those skills before the meltdown.
Makes me wonder that when my country collapses and I need to be hunkered down if I will be able to get to that next level. :)

    Seriously that was impressive.

Thanks again, Damon. Still learning things, but glad you liked it!

Thanks, Leo! Hopefully I´ll keep on working on new (old in my head) songs. Having one song of my own finished and playable is a feeling I never had before, and I like how it feels. Glad you liked it in its final shape!

Thanks, Mark! Yes, it finally ran out of my head!:)

Wow, Sabas, I'm glad you bumped this. I didn't catch the link to the actual tune last time i looked at the thread. All I can say is that is one excellent tune all the way around. I like everything about it, and your playing skillz are fantastic man. Thanks for sharing and bumping. Us OLD guys need a second look to get it right. LOL

That was very nice. Recorded well, mixed well, And great playing. You need to be proud of this. I would not have a clue how to record something that well. Honestly, I have not even attempted though. Great job.
