So thanks to all for the advice on the white tubes Blues Jr. I passed....mentioning in the thread I would now focus on grabbing a nicely priced Peavey Classic 30...USA made.
Well guess what showed up on CL last night and is in my living room now. Yep....was able to grab for under $300. Only noticable issue is 2x3mm hole in grill which you have to be a foot away to see. And no Peavey Badge....but that's an easy fix.
USA made black tweed, 2003? ElectroHarmonix preamp and Sovtek power tubes. Debating speaker swap options; and possible tube cage.
I have bought about 6 USA Peaveys and have discovered the condition of the serial number sticker may be directly proportional to the condition of the amp. So thanks for talking me out of the Fender guys!

Awesome score, C30 owner here too. You would be hard pressed to find a another tube amp that can do as much for that price, save one made in the USA to boot. I know several who leave that blue marvel speaker alone too...and it sounds just fine, especially after being broken in.

That’s a nice amp! Congrats! There’s a lot of great under the radar MIA amps out there without a Fender badge!

Thanks for the heads up Scott. I wonder if the Blue Marvels over the years have kept the same label, but the speakers behind them are different?
I would think the older ones may be made in USA, newer made in China?
I have 3 12" speakers, but they are all 8 ohm. Not sure if they would work?

Sweet , yeah those stickers are usually nasty if intact. You'd think one that nice looking would mean it hasn't been abused. One was avail. here last year at that price guy was a PITA to reach so I blew it off. Claimed it was perfect but once a month after that it would come up with one problem or another glad I missed it. Yours looks better.

There have been several versions of the amp over the years, the square front like yours and then the teardrop front but both made in USA, and then the China built one but that only been for a few years I think.

But I’m sure the speaker has varied over the years too.

    Sweet NAD!

I also own a MIA Classic 30 and absolutely love it. I got mine about 9 years ago off CL for $250. Didn't get to play it much all these years, because I was living in small NYC apartments. But now that I'm in a house in Austin, I'm playing it every day and am totally happy with it.

What badge are you looking for?
I have a few Peaveys around that will never leave the house, or die with me (badges don,t matter anymore) I could donate a badge.

EDIT: they may be the older LARGE version of the wild script. Inquire within.

I had the same amp with the same speaker. Get the tube cage. I knocked one of my a tad astray without realizing it and fried the tube and lost a night out with the boys playing. You will love it. Takes pedals well, the over drive is nice. I thought the Blue Marvel sounded good. You got it at a good price. That is the range if you decide you don’t want it anymore you can re sell it for. The guy who bought mine (I sold it very reasonably I thought) has it out on OfferUp still 6 months later for a a higher $. They don’t sell over $350. $300 and under they move like hot cakes!!!. Good luck weigh it!!!! Oh did I mention it is really loud?

Nice grab, hope it brings you many measures of happiness!
Old enough to consider a power cap replacement.

those springy tube retainers give me fits. Mine on a different el84 amp got a little out of shape and I cant get them right again.

Really good price for the condition, and one of the best workhorse amps around. It's a great amp that can shake its own badge off!

    Badges?
You know this is unavoidable, right?

Dobbs: "If you're the police, where are your badges?"

Gold Hat: "Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinkin' badges!

I have the 50 w ver. Great amps. Mine cured my fender envy for years and years.
Mine is tweed and shook its badge off too. Good thing. The spikey logo did not match vintage tweed at all.

I have a Delta Blues, which from what I hear is basically the same amp...would love to get an older C30 like that. Congrats!

If you're looking to do a tube swap on that C30, I highly recommend specific tubes suggested by a guy who goes by classic30incincy on the web.

I have tried his combo of tubes in my C30, and it really smooths out some of the "splatty" harshness that the OD channel can have.

    Here's a thread I started about it:

Congrats on your score @Lamf77 !!

Hey so is there a source of info out there where I can get smarter on these? They've been on my radar but I haven't looked into them yet, but your post is inspiring me :)

I looked at my local CL and there's like five different ones! I was gonna post the pics but I don't wanna take over your thread, but maybe I can get smarter on them (you guys can help) and maybe I'll go check one out.
