I got a AD 2500 tele/paul. Put a SD p90 in the neck. I mounted it with no foam nothing underneath. Screw it all the way down on the body and the pole pieces all the way down.. I need more adjustment. Still too close

Noticed on another p90 the pole screws go all the way thru and stick out on the bottom. Are all like this and where or should i try to find shorter screws.
The body is on the thin side. Guy at San Ash said he can route out the hole so the pickup can sit lower. Question is can i find shorter screws or are they supposed to go all the way thru. And/or Is a thinner p90 what i need? Are those even made? thanks

I'll repeat what I said in TMC's thread. Just take a little off the bottom of the polepiece/screw. Thread a nut on before you cut/grind/gnaw it off so you can chase the threads clean after. If that doesn't work, new pole screws are cheap noted in andrewsrea's link.

You dont even need to rout a whole channel. Just drill 6 dimples or shallow holes. You might be able to screw down the poles to mark the wood, then drill there.

Good advice. If you do this method, you can use a very heavy-duty wire cutter.

I did the center channel / screw row route by drilling shallow holes next to each other and cleaning it up with a chisel. It is ugly - but not once the pickup is installed!!

succesful on neck route of an SX Liquid and the BWG Santa Fe.

I'd rather shorten a soft metal screw than drill/route/chisel on a pickup cavity.

for giggles I took the pole pieces outa the pickup. pickup sounded awful but I got a lil more clearance.. Ill wait for the shorter screws.. Is it and is it worth it to buy a thinner p90? I really like having adjustment...

Is there such a thing as a thinner P90? If there is, I've never seen one.

You might check with Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig to see if they can help you attain skinny P-90's ???

Or buy them from impoverished 3rd wold nations. I heard their P-90s are anorexic.
