My first transaction with Sam Ash. Got it open box for $40 bucks off new online.

I wanted to try out the 2 point trem. This came with 2 springs installed and one extra in the accessories bag. Very floaty trem, don't even need the bar, just rest palm on bridge for trem action (not sure how much I like that yet).

The neck is satin, like almost no finish. Frets are nice up to about the 15th fret then are a tiny bit rough.
The neck is shaped similar to my 70 Vintage Modified strat without the gloss finish. Feels very different to play.
Tuners are nothing special but it stays in tune.

The color is not quite accurate in my photos. More of an amber on the edge. But not as brown as the Sam Ash online photos showed. I think this is calling for a black pick guard.
The Flame Maple Top veneer is a very deep, 3d pattern, that changes with the viewing angle.

This came set up very nice. It's really sweet to play and the pickups sound good.

I ordered this on Friday and it showed up this afternoon(Monday) not bad Florida to Ohio.

Congratulations on your new guitar! I dig the finish and agree you should see how it looks with a black PG - although the white looks pretty good too.

Did a rough "paint" job on the pick guard.

That’s a ridiculously low price and great deal on your part. It used to be that the Standards “used” were $125 to $150 as a good price so I would say you stole it and the finish is beautiful. I think you will be happy with the guitar. The pickups are not world beaters but you can get the Strat sound out of it and when set up properly they are excellent guitars

    I wish !
No $40 was the price drop from new, because this was "open box".

I guess I shouldn’t post early in the morning. The coffee hasn’t kicked in yet!. Still a great deal on a guitar you will like

When I was looking for a Strat, of course Squiers were all over the place, but I held out for a Standard too! I think they're pretty great instruments, and I don't know why they don't get more publicity. The two-point trem is really nice.

I think I will definitely be adding the third spring to the trem. The block saddles are very comfortable and it doesn't take much, if I'm not careful, to get an unintentional pitch shift, just by resting my hand there.

Also the pickups are just a hair on the harsh side with tone and volume at 10. Roll all back to 7-8 and it turns nice and sweet.
