Hoping for some discussion on these. I think this is the first time they've been in stock since I learned about Rondo/AGF.

    What's the scoop?

Kinda glad there's no leftys now. Not GASSING for anything saving up for the 2250 'Mossman Special" that got squished by Rondo design team. But a boltneck alder lp for $200 shipped roughly hard to say no to that.

I have a Callisto Jr. from 2012 and it is a very solid guitar.

Hope they get some more of those in too.

From the pics, only the cheapest of the Callistos is bolt-on necked. The ones for a few dollars more are set neck.

Edit: I see, you're indeed talking about one specific model.

And correction, even the black one is set neck for the same $149 as the bolt-on. Cool!

@Mr. Leyvatone actually did't even notice there were setnecks at that price. That I would jump on without a thought.

I'm having fits trying to compare them. I'ld love a 2tsb...but it has narrower nut
than the 189$ Black which is 1-11/16th and real MOP block inlays.
But I like seeing the back grain better than solid painted backs.
I tend to suspect painted bodies use up more multi-piece bodies.

    So..STD-DS at 169$ or Custom BK at 189$ ?

Custom has thinner sides at 1-13/16th, vs 2" with Standard
    Mhogany neck vs maple

rosewood fb??? they dont say. I dont need another guitar. But they look so worth it.

That STD model was made as a Douglas Shadow for a while https://www.rondomusic.com/shadowcsb.html. I have one:

    IMGP2263.JPG

I can't tell you much about the stock pups, because I bought it specifically to put this set of SD Prails in triple shot rings. What I CAN tell you is that with its alder body and bolt-on neck, it gives some wicked single coil tone. Better than the Agile AL2000 that I made the same mod to... but they each have a place in my arsenal.

After a set up, it's a solid player.

I used to have the CUS and regrettably, got rid of it. Mine was natural mahogany, beautiful visually and tonally, but back then I was fighting my tendancy to collect... I have since given in to my true self. :sneaky:

my old GG1 (model that predates Callisto) was not quite AL2000 quality, but they are as nice as the standard Epiphones in my opinion. Pickups were p90s on mine (very good), but all my other SX humbuckers have been forgettable at best.

I agree, SX makes a better P90 than HB. As a matter of fact all of their single coils are better than their HBs. But you know what? I have gotten used to the HBs to the point that I actually like them too. They have a use.

I've got a Callisto Jr. that was almost free. I modded it on the cheap, and it's one of my favorite guitars in heavy rotation. I've posted about 20 times about how surprisingly fun and playable the Sx P90's are. I'm sure everyone has reached the same conclusion that the Sx P90's are better in every way than the Agile P90's.
The Callisto Jr. has a very cheap finish, and the guitar dents and chips easily. It's got a beautiful baseball 50's style neck, and I replaced the bridge, tuners, pots, and gave it a fell set-up. It plays like a dream now, and it is the lightest guitar in my collection. A pleasure to own, and I wouldn't sell it for twice what it's worth.

That black custom looks like a sweet deal. Like the headstock.

Not to mention the toggle/bout area where it connects to the neck. I mentioned that a few weeks ago on the Agile models. Sorry, but no.

I still have my blowout CSB Callisto sitting in the box from 4yrs ago.
