I say just go for it. Lots of great tutorials on youtube. I was very worried before I did mine but once I did it I kind of wondered why I worried so much. Planning to do one on my SX strat soon unless I go and just replace the neck.

tuners are no name grover looking but feel good and holding tune, i was gonna replace them with a set of real grovers i have but will wait and see they seem pretty tight and good for no names.
Got 4 frets leveled down on the std today and plays good as any agile imo , probably got both on about 1.60 mm and not buzzy so thats good enough for me

Mine arrived today. There is a thread for it. But, mine is like yours. Beautiful, same specs, Mine doesnt need a fret level. Thanks very much for jumping into the Callisto waters and posting the pics and specs. Thats all I needed to see.
Now I am psyched. Light weight beauty that plays well. I'll make it sound good via electronics and the right pups.
    Thanks artandsoul.

And I agree, these tuners seem good.

Hey, when you changed pups, didnt you see a 3/4 (or 5/8") white cap under the veneer in pup cavity view?
I dont think you wrote about it. Mine had one, I took a photo. Didnt yours?
I find this cap a very surprising occurrence given the lack of any mention of such in the product listing. My guitar sounds unbelievable with good pups (SD pearly gates) in it. Better than any of my other LP guitars with same pup set.
My second Callisto, just ordered, should also have same build.
So, did you notice a top cap in yours when you saw into pup cavities?

    Thanks

Mainly, to confirm whether or not artandsoul's guitar also had the full cap of mystery wood, or was mine a one-off. I am betting he has one too but didnt mention it. The product description does not mention a full cap.

I am hoping my next one also has the full cap, because the one I have now is the best sounding LP I have had. Perhaps with other pickups it would be another story. But, it sounds better to me with these pups than my AL3010, my semi-cutom AL 3100M, or a 2018 Gibson Tribute, which all had the same pups at one time or another. The cheapo Callisto STD-DS really sounded to me to be much more rich and lively then the other much more expensive LP style guitars.

So, I want to confirm if artandsoul saw the full cap or not. I'll find out soon enough about my second one. It arrives tomorrow. But until then, I am still curious.

Thanks for the response. Good to hear. I do wonder about the other models.
I have another STD+DS coming, this time to mod up for my brother.
I dont mind having two of that finish for myself. Its the nicest flamed top I've ever owned, and that color is perfect for me.
But I still am wondering which other Callisto models have a full top, if any.
I'm all set now, and feel fortunate to have two of such cheap guitars that look, sound, and play so well.

The Cherry burst was my first Rondo in 2005 even before I knew bout this forum. Nice guitar but once I got an Agile it was all over. But I do have a Hadean tele and SX p90 strat so forget about what I just said. The jury will disregard what the nitwittness just said.

I don't know jack squat about the manufacturing process at SX, but I would be hard pressed to believe that a random full cap would work its way into production if that's not the norm.

Y’all like the top better on the new custom DS vs the previous release a few years back?

I agree. Though not unheard of, even in Agile production lore.

I believe the STD+DS all have it, and wonder if any of the other Callisto models have same.
None are mentioned to have it. And, there are several differing combo's of body wood and neck wood combinations described. The description may be wrong regarding neck on STD+DS, too. It looks more like mahogany than maple.

I see no reason why any other models should be described any more accurately. I wouldnt be surprised if other models do have a full cap. And I wouldnt be surprised if the other models dont. Would love to read reviews of other models builds.

You know, this place just hasn't been the same since we started having threads where people are consolidating, selling off clones and upgrading to gibsons or fenders.
It's great to be back the threads where we are touting not just the equality of but the superiority of bargain gear

Makes me cry like an Indian watching littering

Regarding consolidating/upgrading the herd - pre-owned Gibson LP Studios can be had for literal chump change these days. I think at this point a lot of folks (especially the ones getting along in years) think why buy a $200 clone and swap out/upgrade all the parts to be left with a $200 guitar?

that said, I would probably buy the custom DS callisto if it were in stock LOL.
