I have been waiting for Rondo to restock the Furrian teles with the forearm/belly contours, and snapped one up last week when they came back in stock. I am hugely impressed with this guitar...

-One-piece swamp ash body. The description said 3 piece, I was expecting 2-3 piece body. This is definitely a single piece of ash.
-Neck and fretboard look great, binding looks great. Frets are a little sharp but that's about 15 minutes of work with a file to correct.
-Perfect weight. Light enough that I'll be able to play it for hours standing up, not so light that it feels like a toy guitar.

Everything else that I don't like I will be replacing anyways, and already ordered the parts in anticipation. Planned mods and upgrades:
    -bone nut
    -GFS pups
    -CTS pots/orange drop cap
    -Switchcraft switch and jack
    -Black pearl pickguard
    -Graphtech string saver saddles

Can't wait to get this one home and start modding!

I bought 2 Furrians at Christmas. My first SX guitars. I can't believe the quality for the 120 they cost. That is a beautiful piece of ash.

Congrats! I've been meaning to pick one of those up for a while now (always seem to have bigger fish to fry when they're available).

If you're going GFS, I recommend their 'Fatbody' pickup for the neck position. I have one in my Tele and I think it's the best sounding Tele neck pup I've ever heard.

I ordered the Lil Puncher rail humbuckers but I plan to get a Fatbody too and give it a try.

Just after I ordered this one, Rondo restocked a bunch of 3100MCCs and 3200MCCs. Thank goodness I took care of my gas before those came in... otherwise I might have a 3200 on the way right now.

I've had hits and misses with their pickups, but honestly the hits are just fine for budget guitars. I have a 3100MCC with SD JB/Jazz pups in it and it sounds great... but not twice as good as my other 3100 with GFS Vintage 59s. The 59s also have one of the best split coil sounds I've experienced.

Of course, their Fat Pats were a big miss for me. Neck sounded terrible, and the bridge just fell kinda flat. I felt like it wanted to be a JB but just wasn't anywhere close.

I really like my gfs p90s, but their other single coils didn't do much for me. I went with texas specials.

I think by and large, GFS pickups are pretty darn good. Some are downright awesome, and some are kinda 'meh'.

I stay away from anything grossly overwound, which seems to be Jay's favorite answer for everything...

If it sounds good at 7k, it'll sound AWESOME at 13!

As mentioned, I love the Fatbody Tele neck pickup, and the "Repro '62" that I paired with it (a very popular recommendation at the time). They sound really great together. I have a bridge pickup from a 2014 Am Std. Tele, that I occasionally think about swapping the GFS pup out for, but it sounds great already, so, why mess with it?

But I also got a pair of the 'Vintage '59s' that I put in an Epiphone Dot, because Jay's hyperbole said:

"This is a great pickup- vintage voiced but big, bold and VERY warm. I have a set in my '58 Historic, and I can tell you these CAN HANG with the boutique boys. Hey- you don't need to spend $300 for a GREAT set of pickups- trust me on this one."

    I shouldn't have trusted him...

Now I ain't calling Jay a liar or anything, but these pickups, in fact, could not at all hang with the 'boutique boys'... And I've never spent $300 on a set of pickups.

They were better than the infamous, stock Epi 'CH' pickups, but they were nothing at all as wonderful as you may have been led to believe. The rumors of its legendary tone have indeed been exagg-er-rated.

I think somewhere else in the copy he describes them as: "Warm, bright, and sparkly"

    Huh??

    It's new and improved! It's old-fashioned!

These were not the droids I was looking for.

Great guitars. I was going to get the nat ash but when I bit on the closeout callisto jr they only had the 2ts (or tobacco burst or teaburst). My thinking was if the grain was a dud the burst would still give it visual interest. My 2t's turned out great w a flame neck even. I still get tempted by those nat finish ones but I'm good now.
    Congrats on a beauty.
I like the pups in mine. I don't blame you for swapping though. The included ones are very smooth. It's a nice tone but they don't twang.
Listen to them as if it's not a tele and you may like them. For what they are.
    Have fun

The older ash nat Furrians were very unfinished. It looks like Kurt went poly crazy on these current ones.

I bought a local lefty Furrian ash for honyock with the thin finish & I was blown away by it. I'll add a pic of his.

The early ones had more of an oil finish. I wish I would have bought one then. I wish Kurt would bring them back!

Yeah, it's a little thick for my taste, but the grain looks great and it's a one-piece... so I'm not complaining.
