My new SX arrived this morning.

Initial impression is great! Feels good, sounds good and looks good. I'll do a few basic things to it in the next couple of days and then follow up with a deeper review.

Auditioning for a new band tomorrow night, so expect an update on this guitar later in the week. Right now I am cramming to learn 7 songs.

Love that blue/tort color combo. That volume, toggle, tone configuration looks super ergonomic too.

It is! Even in a few seconds I was able to notice that the control layout is less cluttered and more logical than a standard Strat configuration.

It's a nice Easterish colour! That would probably be my rondo purchase if I was looking at acquiring another guitar

    FYI...
The color is a bit more green in person. You can see my Daphne blue Strat in tge background, and in the light of the pic the SX seems to be the exact same color. It's not. I'd say the Rondo pic is more true to the color.

PS - My girlfriend in Canada says she loves the colour.

Oh yeah! A great guitar recipe with a nice neck. Congratulations.
Another hog/strat-90 finds a good home.

back in the good old days, yes.

I had a beautiful ash one. cost me ~$70+shipping brand new from Rondo.

Not quite sure why I sold it. 45fbd81e93098b6d73a0ce227fdaadea.jpg

That SX looks great! Are you able to verify the nut width and body thickness? Not sure I believe the specs on the Rondo page.

    Very nice.
    Very very nice; tempting.
If it was a hard tail I would have a real problem.

I decked the trem, and will ultimately jam some coins in the trem cavity to fully immobilize the bridge. I prefer a fixed bridge as well, but like the way the trem assembly contributes to the Strat tone.

I got the CAR one last year and will not let her go. The pups are sweet and have the p90 growl that tone masters love. Can't go wrong with these.

I'd probably have to change it -- my little finger would nail that pickup selector about half the time.

Wow, your hands must be all over the place. I played it a couple of hours yesterday and never got anywhere near the switch with my picking hand.

I misremembered, it was $90. My cheap SX strat was this pepto pink beauty.

    Still a smoking deal IMO.

Probably wouldn't hit it while playing.
I do the pinky-swell thing, and routinely roll the volume back when I'm not playing. AND I have huge hands. I have a guitar that has a mini-switch tucked in between the standard LP quad knobs, and that's also in a bad place. You get used to expecting it there after a while, but I'm not a fan. That's why when I noticed that Neal Schon had the miniswitches for his sustainer tucked behind the Floyd on his LPs, my brain went "AHA!"...

    nuts on mine are 1-11/16

    body thickness is 1-3/4"

and to my eye, the blue /green color is a match to the blue sky in your avatar.

Rosewood neck model is sold out.
I initially got one of each just to test difference in tone. It was as one might expect. Rosewood warmer, maple brighter. So I got one more of each to swap necks out and have also a vintage white w/ rosewood. Am selling the blue body #2 with maple FB. The maple neck model I'm keeping has a natural body finish with crazy flame.

Between these hog/strat-90's and the Callisto's....SX is becoming my favorite guitar company.
I love the cheapness (affordability) relative to the great playing feel and sound I get, with some modding.

    That mahogany Strat is beautiful.
