I used to dislike everything about PRS.

And then I played one. Then I bought one. Then I bought another one.

Haven’t gotten used to the PRS headstock on the Silver Sky yet, and may never get used to it.

The Tele headstock really doesn’t appeal to my eyes, but I like Telecasters, so I deal with it.

    Dean? Just no.

The headstock shape kept me from buying an SX Strat or Tele a few years ago.

I’ve heard folks who just can’t get over the Epiphone shape...yeah, no. Non-issue for me. Much more problematic is that the last Epiphone I bought had poor QC.

Other than those few things, I’m probably okay with whatever.

those dean ones are hideous, i'm not a big fan of the prs ones either (although i've kind of gotten used to them). and while it's not the worst and i love the normal strat shape, the the giant cbs era one looks like a cartoon. especially when it's on a telecaster deluxe.

I always like Hagstroms until I pan up to the headstock, then yikes, can't even consider getting one of those.

Gibson flying v headstock just looks wrong g to me on anything besides a flying V.

The Dean V thing is terrible. Just not my style.

I love Tele headstock on a Tele but on nothing else.

The duck bill on Fender semihollow is terrible.

PRS works on me but bot for acoustic guitars.

I am usually pretty neutral on this or it is not a high priority.
The Dean V is one I really dont like though.
Still wouldn't stop me from getting a good flying V, if the right deal came at the right time.

No headstock. Throws the aesthetics of a guitar off for me.

No way! I like the PRS headstock. I really really don't like the Epiphone headstock, I will probably NEVER buy an Epi because of it.

I think the telecaster is a crappy headstock:

I used to get bothered by headstocks, and while very subjective, I always had ideas of what “looked” right. As I’ve gotten older, that’s all gone out the window. Now, the uglier and weirder, actually the better. Dean V headstocks, strange Italian/Japanese 60’s guitar headstocks, pointy Jackson shredder head stocks, Kramer hockey sticks, Seagull thin acoustic headstocks, B.C. Rich extravagance, you name it, I’m usually ok with it.

Thank you for saving me from having to go and find some pictures and post this myself. I think their guitars are awesome, and most of them are beautiful, except for the headstocks, which remind me of my grandmother's old furniture

    LOL, that's perfect.

And also, while not ugly, the Heritage headstocks are certainly lacking, especially on a LP style guitar. They remind me of the ones that come with kits where it's expected that you're going to reshape it to your particular liking:

It's kind of amazing that with all the thousands of designers working on guitars for well over 100 years...that so few really nice headstocks have been designed. The vast majority are just not good.

What are the ones that are pretty much universally accepted as great?
The Gibson open book? Seems so.
The Strat? Close, but I have heard some people say that it looks like a testical hanging at the end.

Right now I'm drawing a blank on a single other headstock that gets thumbs up from a majority of people. I've even done a Google search for "best headstocks", and the vast majority of the results were ugly fails.

    Help me out here....

I don't have any problems with the Gretsch headstock...
