I see what I need to wade through at the grammy and I doubt I could take 3 minutes. At this point I don't even know. Sure not going to spend 4 hours to find out. I think most here are into some type of rock so I say we produce our own Rock grammys. Anyone got a better name?
I nominate Greta Van Fleet as both best new all male band with a woman's name and best new zeppelin type band fronted by an elf.
Rival Sons as best fairly new Zeppelinesque band not lead by an elf.
Kings X as best band lots of people think is new because they never heard of them before.
Maybe bring out Jerry Lee Lewis as the only 1st gen rocker that is still performing?
Keep the speeches short and the rock jams frequent. We don't pay these people to talk and frankly most musicians could make a decent living being paid to shut up.

What would you like to see in a show and who would you nominate.

I agree, it is time to divide the Grammy's. Country, Rock, and Pop sounds like it would work. Country for country music bluegrass etc, Rock for all rock genres, hard, metal, prog, etc., and Pop covers everything else, Crap, Hippidy Hoppidy, smooth jazz, etc.

I quit watching award shows for two reasons, the music I like is about 10% of the allotted time and then there's the artists that want to bloviate their opinions about other subjects.

I would watch the Rock Grammy Awards with no speeches just performances and handing out the gold. Shouldn't take but an hour or two tops.

Award shows are terrible. I don't want to watch performers talk about their performances. I just want to watch them perform. In that respect, the Rock & Roll HoF shows, which definitely contain their fair share of worthless blather, at least have a significant opportunity for performance. I bet if you ran through the Grammys and watched nothing but the musical performances you'd be done in 30 minutes, which is probably half the amount of time spent by the performers and presenters walking on and off the stage to display whatever fashion they've chosen for the evening.

I have no use for any award shows. There really is nothing they could do to get me to watch except eliminate the awards part, and any speeches, and just play music.

Wow. While I'm not even familiar with a lot of the current popular artists, I do like hearing what people have to say, in general... and singers and musicians are people too. After all, art is influenced by life experiences, I appreciate getting a glimpse of the person behind the performance.

But different strokes for different folks.

I used to love the CMA awards when I was getting paid overtime rates for being backstage. :)
Tough job but someone had to do it.

Seeing as how I rarely listen to anything not released on the Chess label prior to 1963, preferably in mono, I just can't get interested in awards shows. There's just so many times that I can look at my dog and ask "Who are these people?" before she gets annoyed and moves to the other recliner.

THAT'S ALL I WANTED TO SAY!!! HIGH ON MOTHERFUCKING FIRE!!! OAKLAND CA!!!!

What a trip to read that. Pike used to tend bar at Eli's as I recall. Jason Roeder (Neurosis drummer) used to wrench bikes at my shop. Damn.

Speaking of Neurosis (yeah I know. I'm the one speaking of them), anyone see this shit?

I did see that vid of mastodon and Scott Kelly cramming themselves into that little venue. Must have been a sight to see.

Those guys are pretty damn big now and I’m still bummed I’ve never seen them live.

    There’s a ton of bands I dig I still haven’t seen live!

But Corrosion of Conformity is putting on a free show tomorrow night at Mohegan Sun in CT that I’m trying to get to!
