Really pretty guitar! Everything about that is a winner.
I am now hoping that when the SX Hawk MH P-90s ever return to stock, that they have trans -blue bodies.
I knew that blue was the one for me. I think that the first thing I do to this one will be to pull the pickguard and check to see how it's routed. I was also thinking P90 at the neck.
There must be something wrong with me as I'm still looking for a nice CV tele!
I just inquired about a korina PRS SE One for only $225 Canadian, but fortunately (??!) It was sold...
Well, you won't know until you look but FWIW, the last couple Furrians I've bought with that new headstock only had a neck rout large enough for the traditional Tele pickup...
OTOH, there are Furrians on the site with the new headstock that do have P90 neck pickups...
It's hard for me to tell. I'll have to measure it. I did compare it to other Furrians, and I did notice that the offset of the headstock was less than for the Taurus II.
That's what I'm here for...
Actually, you should be able to lift the pickguard just enough to look under there without even loosening the strings. I'm curious myself...
In fact, I just emailed SX and asked them to send Kurt a batch.
Might just work.
I love this place: we're all just looking out for each other...
HNGD Jam. Next time we meet up you should bring that thing so I can get a feel for an SX guitar. I kept eyeballing the Furrian with the twin hums and trem. Hasn't happened yet.....
That's a beaut all right. I sat on my back deck today looking back over the house, watching the total eclipse (totality occurred right over the center of my house, boys) with my Furrian in my lap playing "Moondance". I really like the chunky, flatter radius profile. The neck is nothing like the one on my Squire CV Tele , they are night and day. The Squire is just like the Fenders I'm used to, the Furrian is something new and different - and I like it.
P.S., if you want a slimmer, skinnier, faster neck, grab a Liquid. I love that neck, too. I've grown to prefer the maple to the rosewood board on the Liquids.
Happy NGD! Gotta love a Telecaster of any kind. The only thing that I am not a fan of on some Teles is the rounded tops on the knobs. I like the flat top Fenderish ones. Nothing more than personal preference though.
Looks great man!
Thanks guys. I hadn't even thought about neck profile, etc. I have gotten accustomed to a flatter radius, but 9.5" doesn't seem to bother me (7.25" does, though).
Would you say the CV has a chunkier neck? I've played the CV a few times, and I can't say anything about the neck bothered me, but I've never played a Furrian, so I don't know how it compares.
I love the neck on the Gypsy Rose, but I don't know if I can count on the profile being the same on the Furrians.
Damn. I just ordered one. This thread pushed me over the edge.
It feels different than the SX. Jumping back and forth quickly, I don't think it is as thick as my typical SX necks.
The profile feels most similar to my older thin/satin finish bound Furrian neck which has ~0.5mm thinner profile than my newer glossy bound ash Hawk neck.
One other thing, the taper on the neck/headstock is much more natural feeling on the Squier, its not quite a Tadeo Taper, but it is a lot better than the SX. The SX has the fairly obvious ridge I think because it is a separate fretboard/neck vs 1 piece, and they just don't do much hand finishing I don't think. The Squier just feels more like a finished product. My Leo actually has the best taper of any SX it is much smoother transition from neck to headstock.
Just out of curiosity, do you recall the radius on your old Rickenbacker that you previously professed so much love for?
Separate names with a comma.
