This is taking on the complexity of space travel...
Personally and at this point, I think we should just shelve the project for now rather than end up with something nobody likes...
This is probably how the Valkyrie got Dali'd into a ESP Viper
if your stuck with an offset body to get the longer horns, that's a hard no from me...unless you went full Starcaster and put a firebird-esque headstock or something. Then it is totally off mark for the intent of the exercise.

There should be some kind of proof, a final ...right ?
His CAD rendering was not offset. He just made the lower half of the body narrower than the upper half.
Is he saying the horns have to be even longer? If I make them any longer, he's gonna say it looks too much like a PRS.
He seemed to be fine with them in the first sketch. He didn't change them in the CAD, and I didnt change them in the second sketch... I just extended the cut-out.
In fact, he seemed to be fine going with the 2200 body design unchanged until the factory "messed up". When Tobijohn first approached him, Kurt didn't say a word about changing anything. It's starting feel like he heard everything we asked for, but went ahead and made a 2300 anyway, hoping we'd just shrug and say: "oh well".
I, for one, don't want an offset 2200, or a lopsided 2200. I can make the horns a little longer, or change the shape a bit, but I have a feeling he's going to find something wrong with whatever we give him.
He should have addressed this right from the beginning if he thought it was going to be a problem.
I think @stevebway has a point. Why don't we ask Kurt to take the second sketch and make whatever changes he thinks needs to be made, and we can say 'yay' or 'nay'.
I'm just about over this. I'm going to email that very suggestion to him and let's see if/what he comes back with....
YESSSSS!!!!! If it means waiting until 2020 to get a guitar we want , so be it. Better than a monstrosity no-one is happy with.
Yup, This right here. Bsb would still look good but it isnt really tvy. Still it wont wear like an old classic. Is there no way that Rondo can't have this done in nitro? Horax did it with his import batch. MAybe some can ship unfinished to make a diy nitro finish easier.
Boy am I running behind in this thread.
We went through this with Horax last year and he even gave me my nitro finish and even acceptable B stocks and I still didnt get one. It just didnt look right enough and its not like I dont have enough guitars already. Somehow any lp jr guitar I get will have to beat out my callisto jr that is already very good.
Well, this is going to be interesting:
"I will ask the factory to apply the requested changes you provided to the
1) Pick guard
3) Color Choices
4) TOM bridge with stop tail
and keep the offset body shape that we have currently."
This forum needs a face-palm emoticon.
So, in other words, he’s going with his first CAD drawing, and just changing the PG...
Sounds like it....
Can I just stick my head in the oven now?
I think you should ask him to pull the plug. Rushing at this point helps no one I'm afraid.
I wonder if Reville or another small group would have better luck pulling this off?
I said as much when I let him know he could probably count on selling at least one left-handed one.
I suggested it to Reville a couple years ago but nothing ever happened. No harm in trying again, I guess...
You know, I have Solid Works on one of my hard drives... I should just make a 3-D CAD rendering myself, and see if one of the CNC shops around here can bang out a few bodies for a reasonable price.
I know of one shop in LA that rents their CNC by the hour, and I've talked to a fabricator who said the cost of CNC work has gone way down.
At least then we could build our own 2200s.
Leftys too? @Mossman The thought is interesting .
Will that be an @Mossman Special or an @Mossman Custom???
Mossman Custom Deluxe
And after all of that, I just got this a little while ago (the "Ha" was in reference to me telling him he should be able to sell at least one lefty):
"Ha - Ok thanks for the help.
Any other model suggestions ?"
