This puppy came up on my local fb marketplace today and I had it in my hands shortly. It’s a us made peavey tracer with the sweet reverse headstock neck and super cool finish. Came with the original peavey case. Guitar is basically mint, came from a drummer who never played. Got it for $175! I looooove the neck on this thing. One of those guitars that inspires you when you pick it up, it just has IT. I always liked superstrats with the humbucker and single coil set up. In fact i had a warmoth body in that layout i was going to do a project with, but now i got a fully functional guitar for less! The finish reminds me of that stone finish on the Fender HM guitars from the 80s/90s. In fact, very close to a guitar i had my eye on for a while. Overall i'd call it a win.
The higer end USA Peavey guitars are so underrated. No one every talks about them. That is a beautiful guitar!
Congrats. I love the Peavey stuff. Wish they were still making things here in the US! (No offense to our brothers on the forum from other countries of course)
Excellent deal on that one. I've got an 80s Peavey Tracer in HSS configuration with a non locking trem and concur that the necks really are phenomenal on these guitars.
Peavey usa was a neat period in time. I never had a lot of their stuff but they were always an interesting option. I do have their very good 410 classic 50w tube amp. I was sad to see it all end and to see ol Heartly hand off to what looks like a kinda scummy son in law.
Does anyone have any more info on the finish? I've seen two tracer customs on my google search with a similar finish. Curious how common this finish was.
