I’ll leave it up to whoever attends. Most likely be some Pantera, Iron Maiden and Slayer in there tho.

My wife and I talked about this recently and she told me her choices. I couldn't come up with anything until she said at least one of mine would be something from Jeff Buckley, and she's right. His music has always been the most special to me. I don't remember what the other suggestions were but I'd be happy with just one JB song. And maybe something by The Civil Wars.

Well then, you'd probably be fine with an Irish wake/funeral which are primarily thinly veiled parties (at least the multitudes of the ones I've attended).

Anyway, getting back to the topic at hand, the ones that immediately come to mind for my funeral are a Lark Ascending by Vaughn Williams and Erik Satie's Gymnopédies (the latter being suitably and appropriately melancholy):

Ditto. I see a funeral as a racket for taking advantage of the grieving. Take the money and go on a nice vacation or something. I promise I won’t notice, nor will I be upset if I do.

Too many existential thoughts course through my mind pondering the hereafter and terribly painful thinking about the loved ones we leave behind. Is it just me?

The Star Trek opening theme while my ashy remains (sealed in a paper bag, and secured in a vented brass ball slathered in something flammable) are loaded into a trebuchet, ignited, and lauched into the Pacific.

To keep the mood light, I'd go for a bagpipe starting with a hint of Amazing Grace, then morphing into It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock 'N' Roll).
