Bought a cheap mixer. Have been using YouTube and justinguitar to learn some things.

I prefer playing with headphones at night so my wife doesn’t kill me

Yeah I get it EMG pickups don't work for everyone. They work well for my music but of course everyone is looking for a different sound.

Got a hard case for my Thunderbird. It popped up on a local FB group, and I immediately contacted the owner and made an offer. Turned out she only lived about five blocks from me, which was especially good because it was raining hard tonight. The case is a really, really snug fit.

Not exactly mine, but my son's newest acquisition. He's been mowing lawns for elderly people we know and worked his ass off over the weekend at a charity event, so I took him out looking at guitars on Tuesday for his efforts. He had $110.00 in his pocket, and didn't have much in mind, but he did need a new gig bag. First stop, our local MGR, where we saw a 2012 Squier Class Vibe 50s Tele in Vintage Blonde for $280.00. He thought about it, but he new we were going to other stores, so he passed, knowing that we could go back. We did pick up a nice gig bag for $25.00 for him there though, and he was also thinking about getting his own Trio pedal, for $70.00, but I stopped him and told him he could have mine (he didn't know I picked up a Trio+ off of Craigslist).

On to the local GC, where he found a 2019 Schecter Omen Extreme 6 in Ocean Blue Burst, that he loved, for $400.00. He was playing it for at least a half hour, and didn't seem interested in anything else, but was bummed about how much it cost. I considered calling my wife about it, but something urged me to go over to the used room. As soon as I walked over there, I saw the same guitar, only a 2018, for $285.00. I walked it over to him, he immediately saw the price tag, and asked me to put the new one back. He played this one for at least an hour and a half in the store, and kept telling me that he'd pay me back for the rest of the money if he could take it home. I looked it over really good, and other than needing a good cleaning and new strings, it was in great shape and everything worked. I negotiated the with the store to help the kid out and throw in a new set of Regular Slinkies with the sale.

After getting it home and cleaning/going over everything, I found that 2 of the neck screws were too short and had stripped out. I happened to have a full set of thicker, longer screws, so luckily not a problem. The new strings are on and he is ecstatic and hasn't put it down. The pickups are surprisingly clear and you can hear every note when playing a chord. As you all know, I love the color, but to me this one is the entire guitar, right down to the vector inlays.... man this is a beautiful guitar. On to the pron:

Just nabbed this off GC used, should be here next week.
I didn't think this was my thing, but something about that thick ash top got to me. Plus I don't have a set neck plain maple neck, or an offset. And the price was right...

    Roland TD-4K electronic drums.

I’d never played drums at all before I got this kit. It’s the lowest end Roland, but it’s sturdy and well made. I didn’t get a drum amp, but it sounds HUGE through my Ampeg 115 bass amp with the tweeter active and the EQ set properly.

I’ve slowed down considerably with the gear purchases this year. I bought a Mesa DC3 combo in March that had a weird sound. Took five months to sort that out.

Finally broke down and bought a tuner pedal and a power supply for my pedal board. Not sexy but very useful.

So yeah, I think I’ve purchased a beat up amp, beat up guitar, two pedal board accessories and a drum kit. Oh, almost forgot a Triangle Muff.

I’m thinking of moving some stuff out though and getting a decent acoustic.

A drum kit so nice, ya gotta post it twice.
I'm following your original HND(rum)D thread.
I gotta say all these people posting their fancy music areas were they can see the floor and everything, you are definitely closer to my organizedness.

What an awesome experience! At least for me to read and enjoy it vicariously through you. How old is he and what does he like to play on that beauty?

I always yearned for the day I could have this experience with my son but sadly it was not to be. He definitely took to guitar (and drums) but he felt more comfortable with acoustic and adopted a cheap one we had around the house. After getting interested in Led Zeppelin (thanks to his old man), we talked about building a Tele kit together but we never got around to it and then he moved out at 19 or 20.

Sorry, enough of my blathering. Enjoy!

Maybe you guys could still work it in around the holidays, might take a few years but it'd be an awesome experience whatever age. Kinda like making gingerbread houses, but building a tele.

No blathering at all. Hopefully you and your son will be able to do that Tele build together one day, even if it takes a bit of time.

My boy will be 13 next week. He's really into classic rock right now (AC/DC-type sounds are constantly bleeding through the walls when he's playing), but he's been listening to pop-punk his whole life through me. Last night he was trying to learn Tom Petty's Free Fallin'. He's got a ways to go, but at least he's interested, as you mentioned.

I'm trying to calculate how cheap that would need to be for me to bit.
On the on hand I dont want any more guitars. On the other hand it's pretty ash and would be the twin to my 2500 albino. On the other hand it's a little melty looking. On the other hand it's a setneck agile..............
    Rocket trajectories are easier.

    How much?
