I've been hearing all these great things about Yamaha's THR10 practice amp. All the YouTube reviews, reports on guitar forums, and user ratings would have you believe that they are hands-down THE BEST practice amp on the planet!. I ordered a used one off of GC's website, and it came a couple days ago. So I was pretty excited and had high expectations..... I'll have to tell you folks, I am seriously underwhelmed. I think it sounds terrible! The clean tones sound processed and artificial, and the gain tones are harsh and gritty, as in solid-state at its worst. The only thing that sounds pretty cool, is with reverb, the stereo effect makes it sound very big and spacious, even though the volume is very low. I can get more usable tones out of my Roland MicroCube, so it's going back.

I could not agree more. I took a chance on one from a guy on Craigslist. Not for me, sounds just bad overall. I am thinking I will get a Boss Katana to fill the missing solid state amp void in my collection.

I have a Katana 50, and it makes a great practice amp. Less money than the THR, and a REAL amp that you could gig with if you wanted.

I just got these too. So far just a quick test and they can work when I go to the next room but some drop outs getting there. And my house is lath and plaster. It is a bit noisy. a lot more noise than a cable so far. I was testing in the same room with my router so I need to test more but far from dead silent.

Interesting. The ones I have are pretty damn quiet in my house. They definitely won’t go through much in the way of walls but have been flawless when in the same room.

Picked up the Headrush Gigboard from Sweetwater. I goes to 11. It’s one louder.
Also picked up the FRFR cabinet at GearFest this year.

Turns out at least some of it was being plugged into my POG2 pedal. Maybe it makes more noise than others? It still had some fizz in the amp but maybe good enough. I really need to try it in my mustang floor . Thats where I'll be needing it.

Got a Rimrock Mythical Overdrive. I'll probably do a separate NPD about it. It's cool, but honestly after all the Klon(e) hype I was kind of expecting the skies to open and a host of angels to sing, but it isn't quite all that.

Agile AL-3000 CSB plain top. Grabbed this one from the GC website last night. I believe this is a slim neck 3000 since this is the only Rondo link I could find for a lefty CSB plain top AL-3000.

I bought a set of Guitar Madness 57 alnico II pickups because the Duncan Designed that where in my Arch top where way too hot and I could not use any fuzz or distortion pedal with them and not get a lot of Bad distortion due to how much the DD pickups pushed the signal. So I asked around and got different suggestions for Humbuckers that where not as hot and some one said I should try the GM 57 and being they where only 36$ I got a set and they did the trick, I can now use my tube screamer and my fuzz with out dealing with the excessive push that the DD had. So for the small amount of cash they cost they are very good pickups. Made in the USA also.

Glad it worked out. I've installed the GM Alnico 5 Classics and the JB/Jazz clone set and was quite pleased with both. I've still got a half dozen other sets of GMs to install, just having trouble finding the time and motivation. However, while they ship from the USA, they are not made here. I believe somewhere on one of the listings that it's mentioned they're manufactured in South Korea, probably by Artec but that's just my hunch...

The GM pickups are excellent. I put a set of the 59ers in my son’s Agile 3100M and I put a set of the GM Hot Rod Humbuckers in my Agile 3010SE and have a set of the 59ers to go in a triple humbuckers Les Paul project. Gotta thank @tobijohn for telling me about them!

Even a real deal original Klon will not produce singing angels. I like what they do, but the hype got out of hand.
