A couple days ago I posted that I had picked up a used Yamaha THR10 practice amp from GCs online used site. I really tried to like it, but I just couldn't coax any usable tones out of it, so today I took it back to GC and traded it for this used Bugera V5. Now THAT'S what a practice amp should sound like! I was hoping I could squeeze a 10" speaker in there, but that will take some clever engineering I'm afraid. I like the 5w/1w/0.1w attenuator... reverb sounds good... real tube sound... what's not to like?

Edit…. Well, after spending some time with the V5, it suddenly struck me.... I COULD HAVE HAD A V8!!! Seriously though, this one's going back too. It's really a pretty decent little amp, but I already have three small amps... a Super Champ X2, a Boss Katana 50, and a hand-built 5E3. All of them sound WAY better than the Bugera, so why keep it?

picked up a pair of ibanez am93 this week, blue one was a level 3 on mf it has a small clearcoat crack at the imput jack and the sunburst was a used 2012 model but only has 2 tiny scratches on it. super nice guitars best fit and finish ive seen in awhile. 20190822_122207.jpg

I looked at that blue one for a week and never jumped. Envying you, super glad you got it, glad you got both. I'm hunting for Ibby AM93, the right one hasn't popped for me yet (my place, its place,...)
    Hope you enjoy those.

yeah i looked at it for a week to lol. was worried about it being level 3 having a bad dent or something but its was just the imput jack clear coat crack youll never see anyway. rest of it was perfect. was a great price since most of the used ones are still 500. found the sunburst on reverb for 420 shipped but its really like new and one of the cleanest used guitars ive bought so it was worth it. seems like 400-500 is normal on these used since there 650 new which is crazy to me.
the blue is indonesia 2018 made and the sunburst is 2012 china made, the china one is nicer imo it has real super 58 pickups the newer one the pickups are sterile aka weak sounding. the super 58 with the stamp on the front is what the sunburst has and there great sounding no reason to change them out but i pulled the newer super 58 out after an hour and threw them on ebay. the wolf or agiles stock sound better so try and find the 2012 model its nicer and pickups are much better than the new stuff

I take your word on that. Thanks, I'll look for 2012. I have read a lot about the new super 58 vs old and myth/not myth. I believe an AGF brother. I wonder if the caps and/or pots are different? I would have to try the ones you pulled in something else before I sold them, but I don't have an ear for tone developed yet.

The quilted maple on that sunburst is gorgeous.

My daughter is starting 5th grade and has decided to play in the band. When we went to sign her up they told her she was one of 5 kids to test perfectly on some kind of listening test and encouraged her to play percussion. She wouldn't hear it, so clarinet it is.

I like what you did there.

I bought a new frikin gas boiler since I'm pretty sure the wife , kids and dogs are expecting heat in a month or so.....
More things to do instead of playing (albeit badly) guitar, or buying gear.

The UPS truck dropped this off yesterday from GC in Minneapolis. I checked it out while I was there on my anniversary weekend but I blew my gear cash on 2 other guitars while I was there. I sold another guitar last Friday so I went ahead and ordered it.

The pickup is in there right, it just looks a little off because the pickup route is a little bigger than it needs to be. It's well built but they could've spent a little more time on the setup. The nut slots were way too shallow and the truss rod needed a little tweak. that being said, the fretwork is excellent and the pickups sound good.

I just won this last night on shopgoodwill.com.
It’s got a set neck and bound fretboard.

Thanks! I didn’t expect to win it with the low bid I submitted but I got it for just under $80 shipped.

The bidding there can get pretty crazy at times.

True. That and shipping from some of the stores is ridiculous. This one was only $12 and change to ship.
