I have a champion 20. Currently just playing at home and with one friend. No gigs...yet

I was going to get a Katana 100.

I found a line 6 Spider IV 150 (2x12) with the mkii foot pedal, for $200.

Is the Line 6 going to be massive overkill for playing at home?

Save yourself some cash and grab a Roland Cube 30. Not as many bells and whistles as the Katana...but a better stock speaker. At least in mine.
I grabbed it for like $75.
I would grab a Katana 50 over the 100, unless you are playing live.
I have no idea about Line 6 except they get slammed a lot and are always up for sale. I believe 2 x 12 would be overkill at home.

Cubes are no joke. They have a deeper cabinet (thus the cube name as the cab is more of a true cube shape) and it gives them a really full sound

If you are going to go tube, I can’t recommend finding an Ampeg Reverberocket more highly. They can be had for a scream of a deal, look cool, have all that Fendery sparkle and chime, nice distortion, the best reverb I’ve heard built into an amp and all with the added bonus of being gig-able if/when the time comes. I do use a clean OD pedal to keep the volume down at home because these are extremely loud.

The Spider IV really does not sound good at volume, with a band in my opinion. I ditched mine after my second rehearsal with a band. I like the Katana 50 myself, it is LIGHT YEARS ahead of the Spider IV.
