Ive never had the pleasure to play a peavey classic 50 amp and a guy wants to trade me his tweed classic 50 2x12 with electro harmonix speakers that are supposedly 75 watt versions of vintage 30s for my Brian Moore guitar. Here is a link to it by the way... my guitar that is.

    https://reverb.com/item/30215629-br...ore-duncan-pickups-and-sperzel-locking-tuners

He showed me pics and it looks pretty clean. He is willing to let me test it out and I am willing to let him test the guitar out as well. What do you guys say... I have plenty guitars and this one will not be missed, BUT lets say this was your main backup guitar, would you trade it off for the Classic 50?

If you can use an amp that is loud & proud then the Peavey is your man.

Fair trade dollar wise....question is needing the volume a Classic 50 puts out. Great sounding amps.

I have the 50 410. Its as good amp. You can pull a set of power tubes out to cut the power in half. It doesn't change it alot but it is surprising how close 25 watts is to 50. They are heavy but it's a good tube amp if you don't have one. I thought it was soooooo much better than the fender hot rod deville

Classic 50 is a very heavy, very loud amp but they sound great. All the peavey Classic line are some for the best bang for $$ amps out there.

As for the trade, depends on your motivation....If you want the amp to use it and keep it Is a great one to have. If you are just looking to make a few bucks in trade value, the C50 is very cost prohibitive to ship.

It took nearly a month for someone in Maryland Heights to sell this same model (with some chipping) for $125. So they aren't easy to sell and you've had this on CL and FB marketplace forever. So from my perspective, it's a good deal. Peavey's aren't perfect but I think they're easier to sell and trade than these Moore guitars locally.

Im afraid you are right about this guitar as far as selling it locally. Thats what I hate about buying and selling locally sometimes, there are good deals, but people can remember easily what that good deal was and wont want to pay what its actually worth and selling for on reverb or ebay.

Probably going to trade this guy later on tonight for the Peavey classic 50!

And this is why I prefer to sell via Reverb and buy locally. We live in a buyer's market here in the greater STL region.

+1 for the trade. Can't go wrong with the Peavey Classic series and I perceive more of a market for it than Moore guitars.

I was going to trade with him for another amp, but decided not to after he keeps marking it down

That was my first tube amp and it was amazeballs. Two channels, master volume, effects loop, spring reverb. What's not to love? Like @golem said, it's all about the resale value. Doo eet!

Not that one, he just posted it last night. Out of curiosity what kind of amp were you going to try and trade for the classic 50?
